Exploring Work and holiday option for Australia
Australia has recently introduced significant changes to its visa policies, particularly affecting Indian nationals. Starting October 1, 2024, under the India-Australia Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (AI-ECTA), Australia will offer up to 1,000 Work and Holiday visas annually to Indian citizens aged 18 to 30. This one-year visa allows recipients to work, study, and travel across Australia, enhancing bilateral ties and promoting cultural exchange. Additionally, as of July 1, 2024, Australia has mandated that all Visitor visa (subclass 600) applications be lodged online via ImmiAccount, streamlining the process for prospective tourists. However, to maintain the integrity of its migration system, Australia now prohibits Visitor visa (subclass 600) and Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485) holders from applying for a Student visa (subclass 500) while onshore. These measures aim to facilitate genuine travel and work opportunities while preventing misuse of visa provisions.
